This rare style only lasted ten to twelve years, between 1799 and 1810 1st Empire epoch, hallmark with the lictor beam, dating from 1798, and hallmark with the cock, from the 1st of novembre 1809 Silversmith : DUPEZARD , Paris(SJD initials on the hallmarks) Egyptian caryatids, with hieratic attitudes and faces, form the pilasters of the nacelles. There are 3 caryatids for each one The central handle is made with a column, square shaped, , ornamented with 2 tall caryatids, who show from their feet to their head. ROCOCO STYLE Very decorative silver strainer, with parcel gilt on the bowl, from the early 19th century. This strainer is tripode. It's in rococo style, with the repeated use of the shell motive. We find it at the bottom and at the top of the feet, accompanied of foliage scrolls. We can see it aswell on the edge of the pierced bowl, embellished of garlands. A nice gadrooned frieze complete the ornamentation of the edge. The bowl presents a nice pattern of little curved and cons-curved tongues. This strainer bears: - the old man's head hallmark, guaranteeing the silver purity, - the silversmith hanllmark (see last photo). Pair of silver cruets frames, realised by the famous silversmith Jean-Baptiste Simon LEFRANC Poinçon au vieillard 1er titre, Paris 1819-1938, époque restauration Silver net weight : 1.328 grams The stylistic composition is really very charming. The bases, elongated shaped, edged with a frieze of hearts, are placed over four lions paws, linked to the bases by carved palmettos. The nacelles have three pilasters, very decorated of tall etrusc vases with swan necks, surmonted of laurels crowns with butterflies facing each other. We see again the frieze of hearts on the nacelles edges. These nacelles are linked by a charming handle, whom the base is made of a carved half moon, showing a putto laid on a flowered garland, and who is holding a butterfly by a thread. This half moon with the angel is present on each side of the work. The large central handle, etrusc vase shaped, is surmonted by a ring ornamented with palmettos and cornucopias. The finishing of this very rich carved ornamentation is little dot hammered, making the least detail perfect. These cruet frame may be without contest, be classified among the collection pieces of silversmithing. These works bears the silversmith hallmark, JBSL initials, for Jean-Baptise Simon Lefranc, and the silver control hallmark, with the old man profile for the 950/1000 silver (equivalent to sterling silver). This last hallmark was used between 1818 and 1839. Each element composing the work is hallmarked: base, nacelle, etc.., including each baluster of the nacelles. Silver milk pot with its lid, Louis XVI style, and dating from early 19th century, Louis XVIII period, between 1814 and 1824. It has a cylindrical, or more precisely, a slightly tronconical shape. The top edge has a little spout. On the body, a turned wood handle is fixed almost orthogonally. It is equipped with a lid, nicely ornamented with water leaves, gently chiselled. The handle of the lid is a little oak acorn. This french model is called 'laitière' and has its origin in the Louis XVI period, circa 1775. . DRAGEES POT IN SILVER ORNAMENTED WITH MASKS OF WOMEN - VENISE HALLMARK - EARLY19th CENTURY Venetian lidded pot, in chiselled silver, dating from the early 19th century. It is punched with the lombardy-veneto's silver control hallmark , with the Venise's town hallmark, and with the silversmith's hallmark which remains to determine. The pot is placed on three large legs ornamented of women masks, which go up to the top of the pot, and end on the other side, in hoof shape. These legs are in elegant curves and cons-curves. The cup of the dragées pot is half-sphere shaped, prolonged by a cylindrical ring. The lid is bell shaped, composed of a half-sphere, which extends at its base by a wide curved edge, slightly inclined, and exceeding widely the edge of the cup. This edge is gently decorated of a of the cup. The handle of thehammered pattern, drawing radial segments. Likewise, we find this same pattern at the top lid is oak acorn shaped, accompanied of applied nice oak leaves covering the top of the lid. -Venise's town hallmark, from the 19th century (ferro de prua). -Lombardy-Veneto silver control hallmark (heptagon shape, with 7 stars). -Silversmith hallmark. SILVER DOUBLE SALT CELLAR - FIRST EMPIRE PERIOD EARLY 19th - SILVERSMITH ANTOINE HIENCE IN PARIS 2nd cock hallmark , Paris 1809 The pierced mount stands on arched feet, hoof shaped, topped by heads of winged satyrs, the handle adorned at the bottom, with scalloped ribs, supports a ring, hemmed with palmettos. The nacelles have a chiseled edge composed of water leaves. The whole object is finely chiseled. The two glass jars have a fluting. One of the jars is slightly ground glass, on the exterior edge, but this is absolutly not visible while the jar is placed in its mount. The jars are in good condition. Being of blown glass, they shows slight differences. The silversmith Antoine Hience was set up at the 2, Quai des Orfèvres, Paris 2ème. Its hallmark, punched on the object, has for symbol two crossed navy anchors, with below the uppercase letter H. Also on the salt cellar, we can see the Paris hallmark, at the 2nd cock, 1st title (950/1000 of silver). This hallmark was used from the 1st november of 1809, until july 1819. On a four ball feet squared pedestal, four dolphins lie on an acanthus frieze. They bear the crystal vessel, decorated with reeded ribs. The vessel is embedded in its silver mount. The handles have an ornamentation composed of two long neck fantastic animals. The hinged lid, which presents a molding in cavetto, is topped by a little handle, pine cone shaped. Beautiful friezes complete these main ornaments, among which a water leaves frieze unde the silver edge of the crystal vessel. Note on our photos the thorough execution of the chiselling. This works dates from the first third of the 19th century, between 1819 and 1838. Indeed, the mount and the hinged lid are punched by the old man's hallmark, 1st title, used between 1819 and 1838 for the 950/1000 purity silver, equivalent to sterling silver. Its bowl presents ribs nicely pierced of twigs, and an edge slightly scalloped. The handle is delicately chiseled, its edge engraved with a line of chevrons, and its tip presenting an escutcheon, surrounded with a foliage of olive or laurel. The escutcheon is engraved in its heart with the calligraphic letters ME. Le buvant , le noyau central et le pied sont d'époque gothique avec inscriptions gothiques, fleurs stylisées au coeur de malachite et de lapis lazuli. Ces parties semblent porter des poinçons non identifiés (voir photos de détail) Ce CALlCE GOTHIQUE a été transformé en Ciboire au XIX° EN RAJOUTANT une enveloppe intérieure avec rebords et son couvercle , qui sont l'oeuvre de l'orfèvre Poussielgue-Rusand fils et portent les poinçons d'orfèvre et poinçons minerve répétés. Manufacture d'orfèvrerie et de bronzes pour les églises, Paris. Dirigée de 1849 à 1889 par Placide Poussielgue-Rusand (1829-1889). 19ème Moutardier et saleron en argent massif , avec leurs verines d'origine en cristal taillé . Belgique , poinçons 1814-1831. Saleron: Base circulaire à degrés, le premier à doucine , orné d'une frise de feuilles d'eau, le second degré portant un anneau incurvé, à 2 frises de billettes, sur lequel repose le réceptacle de cristal avec sa belle corolle débordante. Le piétement est à 3 pieds boule. ht: 8.5 cm / diam:8.5 /poids brut : 170 grs. Moutardier: Même base que le saleron. Cette base porte le haut pot de forme ovoïde, enchassé dans une armature qui présente d'un côté une anse à enroulement à motif de trèfle à quatre feuilles, et à l'opposé une palmette. Le couvercle est couronné d'une prise en pomme de pin. (Cf. Henry Nocq "Le poinçon de Paris" vol I page 259) Du plus pur style Louis XV rocaille , l'ouvrage présente un beau décor finement ciselé : Pieds à enroulements. Plateau oblong chantourné, à beaux enroulements profonds sur les bordures. Nacelles à 4 pilastres torsadés, ornées de branches fleuries. Couvercles à cannelures à fretel en pigne. Nacelles à 4 montants feuillagés et fruits; L'objet doit provenir d'une maison aristocratique, présentant au centre de son plateau des armoiries aux lions adossés à un écu couronné. Ces jambages sont couronnés d'un bouquet à 2 branches en enroulement et palme centrale. Les jambages sont reliés en partie médiane par des étriers incurvés. Partie supérieure des salerons, circulaire, à bordure courbe ornée de petites palmettes ciselées. Verrines de cristal, en bon état, sans ébréchures ni fels. . Composition de style 1er Empire : Large terrasse rectangulaire à pans coupés , ceinturée d'une frise de feuilles d'eau. Cette terrasse repose sur 4 pieds à pattes de lion. Colonne centrale formée d'une haute base de carrée ornée de profils masculin et féminin , surmontée de palmes en corolles d'où se déploie la colonne cylindrique , ou plutôt légèrement tronconique car elle s'affine vers son sommet, sommet couronné d'un cygne aux ailes déployées. Nacelles formées de trois pilastres à pattes de lion sommées de larges palmes On joint 2 beaux carafons en cristal overlay bleu (recollage à un bouchon) quasiment de la même époque (1er tiers 19ème).
