These incrustations draw motives of stylized flowers, accompanying subtly the drapery of the clothes. These sculptures are neatly made, because statues backs are incrusted of silver as well. PORCELAIN BOWL FROM CHINA - THE EIGHT HIDDEN IMMORTALS - SIGNE DCircular china porcelain bowl on a little pedestal, handpainted in blue camaïeu on white background under glaze, of 8 taoïst symbols, the number 8 symbolizing balance and cosmic order. This decor is traditionally called 'The eight hidden immortals'. Among them, we can recognize here: the calabash, the sword, the two attached fishes, etc... The calabash is a taoïst motif which symbolizes longevity and unity between the sky and the earth. It is the specific attribute of the immortal Li Tienguai. The sword , attribute of Lu Dongbind, symbolizes victory of good over evil. Signed on the back with two chinese ideogrms. Epoch : 19th or 18 th centuryVery good condition . EAST INDIA TRADING COMPANY - 18th CENTURY - CREAMER WITH AN EUROPEAN HANDPAINTED DECOR OF PERSONAGES AND A DOG - EXPERTISED PIECE Small porcelain creamer (or milk pot) handpainted of a polychrome scene representing a couple playing with a little dog in a garden. This creamer comes from China, produced by the East India Trading Company in the mid 18th century. The personages are dressed in costumes of the epoch, middle 18th century. In the background, we can see a riverside, with a village silhouete and boats. A rococo frieze of flowers completes the ornamentation at the top of the pot. The foot and the top of the creamer are ringed with bands of vermeil, posteriorly added around the middle of the nineteenth century, and decorated with streaks (bottom ring), and a frieze of beads (top ring). They bear the silver guarantee hallmark, head of Minerva, and the silversmith's hallmark.. Expert : Mme Finaz De Villaine in Paris. In very good condition, except an inconspicuous very small lack of glaze under the handle, and erasure of gilding at the same place (see our photo, very enlarged). The handpainted ornamentation is perfectly preserved, and the porcelain is intact, with no chips and no cracks. Height: 4,13 inches - (10,5 cms)

CARVED LIDDED VASE OF JADE WITH TAOTIE MASKS AND
CHIMERAS - CHINA 19th CENTURY Carved lidded vase of jade, green celadon tone, with a decor of taotie masks on each cambered face. Taotie is a motif commonly found on Chinese ritual bronze vessels from the Shang (1600-1046 bc) and Zhou Dynasty (1046-221 bc). The design typically consists of a zoomorphic mask, described as being frontal, bilaterally symmetrical, with a pair of raised eyes and typically no lower jaw area. Of flat shape, the front and rear main faces are cambered. Over the pedestal, the lateral edges presents curve and curve-cons. They have handles in shape of chimera. The lid is topped with a handle in shape of dog of fô. The animals, well chiseled, are very expressive. This is a nice work, well carved in a very hard stone. China - 19th century. PRECIOUS FLOWER DECOR - QIANLONG PERIOD - 18th
CENTURY - PINK FAMILY Gorgeous porcelain plate of the pink family, made by the East India Trading Company, in the mid 18th century, and featuring the precious flower decor. Octagonal shaped, the edges are slightly curved, and separated by a little softened re-entrant angle. The well is round. The handpainted ornamentation in enamels is really magnificent : The well presents a large bouquet of peonies and lotus, surrounded by seven little compositions of these same flowers. The limit of the well is marqued with a frieze of gilt spearheads, whose all contour is overlined in red The lip shows an extraordinary elaborated frieze, composed of a lozenged pattern, of which flowers of lotus overflow from the scrolled edge. All the ornamentation is particularly thoroughly made. Handpainted in a dominante of pink enamels, this plate is classified, according to the occidental classification, as a pink family porcelain In very good condition, with no chips, and no cracks. ANCIENT CHINESE TEAPOT WITH A HANDPAINTED POEM OF SCHOLAR AND A SCENE OF A SCHOLAR WITH HIS YOUNG SERVANT - 18th CENTURY Ancient chinese teapot, with a gorgeous handpainted polychrome ornamentation, featuring a scholar and his young servant, It is painted in green enamels on a white and blue background. The poem of scholar is on the opposite side, and we can see smaller other complementary texts on the lid, which can be the signatures of the painter or of the author of the poem. This composition is bordered, above and below, with two nice different friezes, in blue camaïeu, the bottom one, bigger and composed of stylized leaves. We can also see some little signatures within small circles painted in red, All would be perfect if it weren't the ugly repair of one of the two handle tenons, and that has unfortunately to be made again (see picures) . Chakinseki cloisonne enamels vase, with gold paillettes. Its origin is Japan, and it dates from the end of the Edo period, around 1870.
The decor is scattered of gold paillettes. The
chakinseki technique, or irised effect, called 'tea
dust', is obtained by sprinkling of gold powder
on the enamel.

Vases cornet peints aux émaux de tons rouge, rose, vert, bleu et bleu de cobalt , sur fond céladon. Ils sont ornés de pivoiniers très développés, et d'une roche perçée bleu cobalt. La pivoine, considérée comme la reine des fleurs en Chine, évoque noblesse, opulence, honneur et incarne l’amour. Ici, trois grandes pivoines d'un rouge prononcé, symbolisent prospérité et bonheur. Elles sont aussi , regroupées par 3 , symbole de printemps dans le décor des "fleurs des quatre saisons" , Ainsi apparaissent-elles souvent sur les céramiques offertes en cadeau de mariage pour souhaiter prospérité et bonheur au couple. Sous les Ming apparaissent les rinceaux et branches de pivoines et l’on trouve des traitements de plus en plus réalistes sous les Qing, Le rocher percé était utilisé comme point de méditation dans l’art paysager chinois, évoquant la circulation sans fin des forces de l’univers associée à la profonde symbolique du rocher, emblème de longévité, de solidité et de permanence. Ce motif de bon augure, particulièrement apprécié des lettrés, devint un emblème de la distance prise avec les affaires politiques et matérielles.
