SET OF 6 DESSERT FLATWARE IN VERMEIL ENGRAVED OF FAUNS HEADS - 1st EMIRE PERIOD CIRCA 1800 Six dessert flatware in vermeil, (a total of 12 items), with a rich decor on the handle, in a mandorla, featuring a faune head emerging from convolvulus twigs. Not only the motive is really original, but the quality of the chiselling, for each of the items, is impeccable. The style is one of the french directory, in the very end od the 18th century. Of french directory style, (very end 18th century), The items are, for 4 of them, from french directory period, consulate period, or 1st empire period, as evidenced the 1st coq hallmark stamped, in force from 1798 to 1807. 4 other items are from the period Louis XVIII, bearing the old man's head hallmark, used between 1819 and 1838. Finally, the last four items have unfortunately their hallmark erased. The symbol of the silversmith hallmark is a hunting horn. The items bears the monogram PS, calligraphied in gothic letters. The whole set is in good condition: Items without deformations, teeth of the forks with no wears, and vermeil layer with no erasure. Lenght : 19 cm Weight : 576 grams
