CARVED MINIATURE - ALLEGORY OF FIDELITY - 18th CENTURY Miniature carved sculpture, and representing a lover courting a naked woman, sitted on a chair. Kneeling beside her, he seems ready to entwine her, his hands nearly going carressing her breasts. From behind, it appears that the woman is really nude, as we can see her buttocks. From before, it's just a drapery which hides her fanny. The man is dressed of an antic drapery. Near them, Eros, that we recognize with his small wings, is caressing the house dog, symbol of devotion. The subject is presented on a tripod socle of sculpture and ebony. It has overall a round shape, but with some nice moldings (fluted groove, and other ovolo mouldings). Good condition. Height of the sculpture properly speaking : 2 cm Total height including the socle : 4.5 cm |
