TWO ROSARY
CASES OF
CARVED COROZO - EARLY 19th CENTURY
Two rosary cases,
of carved corozo, delicately chiselled, from the
early 19th century.
The first is ornamented with arcade, and pierced
with trefoils, according to the motives taken on
the gothic religious edifice vocabulary .
The second is ornamented with a rosette, and
with a big frieze of interlaced circles, other
motives of the gothic religious sculpture.
These objects of corozo, often devotion objects,
were realised by monks and nuns from religious
congregations, in the end of the 18th century,
or in the early 19th, as objects of religious
practice of devout people : rosary, portative
chapel. etc...
Good condition
Diameter : 1,77 inches or the two - (4,5 cm).
Height: 1,38 inches for one, and 1,77 inches for
the second.
